Navigate the Threshold

About Alex

I do not offer this work as someone who finished crossing.I offer it as someone still walking.

My Story

The transition never truly ends.

In 2020, I left Rwanda for the Netherlands as the COVID pandemic was closing borders behind me. I arrived in a country I did not know, in a quiet that felt absolute. The streets were empty. The conversations were short. The familiar rhythms — my language, my home, my family — were suddenly thousands of kilometres away.

Out of that long winter, slowly, something began to take shape. A handful of international students looking for one another. A small community that grew into a functioning church. A relationship that became a marriage. And eventually, after years of paperwork and patience, my family arriving at Schiphol.

You might think the story ends there — at the reunion, at the wedding, at the moment everything finally arrived. It does not. The transition never truly ends. There is always another threshold: a new role, a new season, a new version of yourself asking to be met.

A note on faith

I am a pastor by training, and my Christian faith is what sent me into this work. I also believe, with equal conviction, that what this practice offers belongs to everyone — regardless of what you believe or do not believe. The work is human before it is religious. Come as you are.
